No one injured during Welwyn Garden City electrical centre fire
An investigation into the fire has begun
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) say no one was injured in a fire at an electrical distribution centre over the weekend.
More than 80 calls from the public were made to the Service from 9am regarding the blaze in Welwyn Garden City, sparking two fire engines being mobilised to the scene.
At its peak on Saturday, six engines were at the fire, with smoke seen for quite a distance, before it was extinguished around midday.
A foam blanket was maintained by firefighters overnight.
UK Power Networks were also supporting HFRS on site. The grid was momentarily interrupted whilst back-up equipment kicked in, causing minimal disruption to the community's electricity supply.
An investigation into the fire has been launched.
