Fire in commercial building in High Wycombe

Crews were called to Copyground Lane in the early hours this morning

Firefighters have scaled back their response after a fire broke out in High Wycombe at a commercial building in the early hours of this morning.

Ten appliances and crews were called to Copyground Lane at around 2:50am this morning (18 April).

They were joined by five officers and an operational support unit during the height of the fire.

Firefighters reported a fully developed fire in the ground floor of a two-storey commercial building that was generating smoke in the area when they arrived.

Electricity supply to the building was isolated.

Appliances and crews attended from, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Amersham, Maidenhead (Control Unit), Slough, Aylesbury, Windsor, Tinkers Lane, Whitley Wood. As well asOperational Support Unit from Marlow.

At the height of the fire, apparatus used included six sets of breathing apparatus, two main jets, a thermal imaging camera, one hose reel jet, an aerial ladder, a command unit and Operational Support Unit used to support BA operations.

Thames Valley Police attended to help establish a scene cordon. The road is expected to be closed for some time so drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.

Residents and local businesses are encouraged to keep their windows and doors closed as smoke remains present in the area.

The incident response began to be scaled back shortly before 7am. Firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day turning over, damping down and monitoring for hot spots.
