A police investigation is underway after vital life saving equipment was stolen from Royston fire station.

Thousands of pounds of equipment was taken at around 8.30pm on Boxing Day from a fire engine at the Baldock Street station.

Herts Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it's replaced the missing equipment.

Detective Sergeant Laura Bassett said: “This was a completely senseless theft affecting colleagues in the emergency services, here to protect the public. We are appealing for anyone with any information or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that they have replaced the missing equipment and the fire engine is now fully operational.
