Elderly woman dies after being hit by van in Watford

It happened last Friday on Hempstead Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 80s was killed after being hit by a van in Watford.

Police were called at 1.37pm on Friday (20 May) to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Renault Traffic van in Hempstead Road, opposite the junction of Courtlands Drive.

The pedestrian, a woman in her eighties, sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the van was not injured. They remained at the scene and are assisting police with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Neil Crosier, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the woman who sadly died in this incident.

“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding what happened and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, has information about it or who has dash cam footage of it or events leading up to it.
