Drunk driver given suspended sentence over serious Bucks crash

After his driving left two people with life-changing injuries, a man from Aylesbury has been given a suspended jail sentence.
Regan Purton crashed with another car in Stoke Mandeville last September, when over the drink and drug limit.
The 23-year-old from Nene Close has been banned from driving for two and a half years and has to do 240 hours unpaid work.
On 20 September last year Purton was involved in a serious collision in Lower Road, Stoke Mandeville. The passenger in the car he was driving and the driver of another car sustained life-changing injuries.
Purton pleaded guilty on Monday 10th May to driving a vehicle with excess alcohol and driving a vehicle while over the specified drug limit.
He was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment suspended for two years and must also attend 25 days of rehabilitation.
Investigating officer PC Sandra Terry, or the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said:
“Driving whilst unfit through drink and drugs is unacceptable and can have serious consequences.
“Thames Valley Police does not tolerate drink or drug driving and will work hard to bring offenders to justice.”
