Domestic abuse reports in Bucks towns & villages revealed
Data shows High Wycombe saw the most reports from January to July.
High Wycombe saw the highest number of domestic abuse cases in the county over a seven-month period.
Violence committed in the home between partners was highest in Wycombe than any other area in Buckinghamshire, according to publicly held data.
Statistics revealed in a Freedom of Information (FoI) request showed 151 incidents of domestic abuse recorded by Buckinghamshire Council between January and July this year.
The data, requested by our Local Democracy Reporter (based at the Bucks Free Press) in July, has only just been published by the council.
In it, High Wycombe ranked top with 32 counts, with Aylesbury in second recording 20 cases.
The North West Chilterns saw 11 instances, while Haddenham and Waddesdon and the Beeches each saw nine.
Wendover, Wexham and Ivers each saw eight instances, while Amersham, the South West Chilterns, the Missendens, Buckingham, and Beaconsfield and Chepping Wye all saw six cases.
Wing and Ivinghoe saw five reports, while Winslow, and Chesham and villages all recorded four.
Aylesbury Vale Superintendent Mike Loebenberg said:
"Domestic abuse is an extremely important issue and one we absolutely will do everything we can to tackle.
"For me, reporting is really important.
"Contact us and we will come and help."
Women were the main victims with 115 reports, while male victims recorded 35 attacks, and transgender victims less than five.
The gender among abusers showed 52 as male, 21 as female, and 78 not recorded.
Despite asking how many victims cited the lockdown as a contributing factor for the abuse, Buckinghamshire Council could not provide that information.
Neither could it confirm how many cases saw the victim rescued, nor how many abusers were removed or convicted.
