£650,000 from developers is going to be used to help house homeless people in Aylesbury.

Buckinghamshire Council have allocated the money to Hightown Housing Association, to buy a building in the town as part of their Next Steps programme.

The scheme's already seen money spent in Wycombe to create housing.

The £650k is being match-funded by the Next Steps programme.

Nine one-bed apartments will be created here.

When the project was announced, Councillor Isobel Darby said:

"It is a huge opportunity to turn their life around. Its the wrap around support that helps. All these people will be receiving support to overcome any physical or mental health issues they may have and to help with money.

"We have already success stories with people in our temporary accommodation during COVID-19. Some will find it very hard, but people just need to be giving the opportunity and we want to be able to do that."
