Dacorum Borough Council increase COVID guidance for food businesses
The area has seen an increase of cases recently linked to young people in places like bars and cafes.
Food businesses in Dacorum are being reminded of their coroanvirus health and safety requirements.
Dacorum Borough Council are responding to a recent rise in coronavirus cases in Tring, Berkhamsted and Hemel by working with food businesses to try and reduce further spread.
Increases in the Hertfordshire area have been linked to young people and settings such as bars, pubs and cafes.
In order to avoid a continuing rise, which would result in restrictions being placed on the area, several steps have been taken.
Dacorum Borough Council officers are contacting the 460 food establishments and licensed premise to remind them of the requirements they must meet to stay open.
These businesses should also expect routine, unannounced, visits from Officers from Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Public Health to ensure they are COVID secure.
Cllr Julie Banks, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services said:
"Our local businesses are working hard to ensure the safety of staff and customers and I would like to thank them for their sustained efforts.
"The Council will continue to offer support and advice, and where necessary take enforcement action against any operators who do not comply with the COVID secure guidelines, risking further transmission of the virus."
All event promoters and licensees submitting permit applications for events of over thirty people are already required to submit COVID risk assessments.
The Council wants to ensure that these events are safe, and the majority of event organisers have worked hard to ensure that this is the case.
