Cyclist dies after fatal A6 crash

Police say its now being treated as a single vehicle collision

A man has died after a fatal crash on the A6 on Saturday (April 6th).

Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the cyclist, a man in his 60s, was left with serious injuries, and died in hospital on Monday.

Its following a collision on the A6 between Streatley and Barton-Le-clay on Saturday, just before 11am, where emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist in Luton Road, A6, a short distance from the Barton-Le-Clay slip road.

Police say investigators from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Serious Collisions Unit have now reviewed the circumstances of the crash, and say it is now "being treated as a single vehicle collision."

Another man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and being over the prescribed limit. He's now been released with no further action, in relation to the incident.

An appeal for witnesses is ongoing.

Sergeant James Carmichael from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit said: “We are urging anyone who witnessed this incident or the events leading up to it to please get in touch.

”We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the time of the incident and captured any footage on a dashcam.”
