'Our children need to have a chance' - that's the message from a Buckinghamshire councillor today, as he calls for more social housing.

Robin Stuchbury, who represents Buckingham, wants Bucks Council to start providing and building homes once more, as he's worried key workers will be priced out of the county.

In a video on Facebook, he said now is the time for a new direction:

"We do not have to be bound by the decisions of the five old authorities; Buckinghamshire Council is a new authroity.

"I'm hoping there will be a step-change in the way we go forward and a small change in the sense that all I am asking for is for them to go away and look at the business case and economics."

Cllr. Stuchbury talks about the likes of teachers and nurses being unable to afford to buy a home in the county, or even rent, and that this will have a big impact on those services in the long-term.

His motion, which has been backed by Councillor Rafiq Raja, goes before the full council meeting this afternoon.

Robin added:

"Our children need a chance.

"They need to have their own house and a key to their own front door.

"This is a hope, this is an appeal, this is asking them to change their minds because the reality is, Buckinghamshire is one of the most expensive places to live."
