The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced contactless ticketing is being expanded for travel across the South East.

47 more stations will be getting the tap in tap out system as of next month, with more planned throughout 2025, including some in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

The system ensures those buying tickets get the best price for their travel on the day, with dozens rolled out on February 2, hoping to make train travel simpler, more accessible and more flexible.

The DfT say the plans also help to deliver on their Plan for Change, helping to improve living standards and making working people better off through saving time and money on journeys taken.

Baldock, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City and Stevenage stations were all announced yesterday to now be included in the plans.
