Chiltern Railways urge people to only travel if absolutely essential
It's due to strike action and extreme heat
Chiltern Railways are urging customers to only travel today, Saturday 13th August if absolutely essential.
Strike action is expected to impact other train operating companies meaning trains will be extremely busy on the Chiltern services with the chance of delays and short notice cancellations.
Queuing systems may also be in place, and it may take longer to board services.
This travel advice comes ahead of strike action at numerous operators, including Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Great Western Railway and West Midlands Trains.
Matt Turner from Chiltern Railways also told us the heat will impact travel and had this advice to stay safe:
"If travel is a necessity on Saturday and you're travelling in the heat, please do carry water with you and if you feel unwell don't board the train. Another thing to note is if the train is waiting at a platform and has a while till it departs, closing the train doors behind you helps the air conditioning work more effectively. These are all little things but the reality is in this weather they will make a big difference"
If travelling is a necessity, customers can plan ahead by checking their entire journey before they travel on the Chiltern Railway website or the Chiltern Railways app.
