Further charges brought against teenager following 'school incident' in Caddington

A teenager has been hit with additional charges after an incident at Manshead Upper School in Caddington, Bedfordshire, on Friday, 2 May.

Emergency services responded to a report at around 1.40pm that a student was believed to be in possession of a knife. Officers arrived at the scene at the school on Dunstable Road, where they arrested a 16-year-old boy. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was initially charged with causing grievous bodily harm without intent, actual bodily harm, and threatening a person with a bladed article on school premises.

The boy appeared at Luton Magistrates' Court on Monday, where he was served with further charges, including:

False imprisonment

Grievous bodily harm with intent (section 18)

Three additional counts of threatening a person with a bladed article on school premises

The teenager has been remanded in custody and will appear at court again on 9 June.

Two individuals were injured during the incident but have since been discharged from hospital. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

Local police officers are continuing reassurance patrols around the school and the surrounding area. Anyone affected by the incident is encouraged to seek support via Central Bedfordshire Council’s mental health and wellbeing services.
