Central Bedfordshire Council are asking residents to share their thoughts on the current Domestic Abuse Strategy.

Running until 2025, the council's looking to get residents opinions to help shape and improve the new strategy, which will be in place from 2025 to 2030.

A 6-week consultation's launching for residents to have their say about actions have been effective in helping to tackle domestic abuse, support victims, and what can be carried forward into the new strategy.

They're particularly keen to hear from anyone affected by domestic abuse who has suggestions and improvements going forward.

Councillor Steve Owen, our Executive Member for Children’s Services, said:

"We want to hear from as many people as possible about our domestic abuse strategy, especially those who have been directly affected and their friends and family.

"Domestic abuse can affect anyone and can take many different forms. It can have a severe and lasting impact on survivors and their families, and that’s why the public’s feedback is so important to help us create a strategy that truly supports those affected by domestic abuse."

The consultation opened yesterday, October 14, and closes on November 25.

Data provided by Bedfordshire Police shows that in 2023/24 domestic abuse accounted for 17% of all crime in Bedfordshire.
