A caring commercial vehicle dealer has stepped forward to cover the entire £13,000 cost of a "robot arm" for a young boy who was born without his right hand.
After coming across the news story about seven-year-old Louie Morgan-Kemp's efforts to raise funds for a prosthetic called the Hero Arm, manufactured by Open Bionics, Billy Dixon, of Egham, Surrey, reached out to Louie's mother to offer his support.
Mr.Dixon generously volunteered to cover the entire cost, leaving Louie's mother, Hannah Morgan, astonished by the situation. She described it as "crazy" and expressed her joy at Louie's excitement about receiving the Hero Arm.
“We just want to thank Billy for donating all this money and to everyone else who’s also helped on the GoFundMe page. Also if anyone else sees a GoFundMe page for a child, just like Louie’s, please do donate, it’ll mean the world to them.”
Ms. Morgan mentioned that her initial inquiry regarding the Hero Arm was made when Louie was just two years old. However, she was informed that the prosthetic couldn't be provided to a child until they reached the age of seven.
When asked how excited he was about receiving his robotic arm on a scale of one to ten, Louise elatedly replied “ A 10! I’m really looking forward to it”.
According to Ms. Morgan, Louie has scheduled a fitting appointment for the Hero Arm in early July, and they have been informed that it will take approximately 15 business days to manufacture the prosthetic.
