Burst water main at Rye House closes railway station
Network Rail engineers and Thames Water staff are on site working to resolve the issue
A burst water main at Rye House has caused flooding on the railway line and closed all lines at the station.
The signalling system was damaged on Wednesday (17 December).
As a result, Greater Anglia are unable to run trains between Broxbourne and Hertford East.
National Rail is advising commuters not to travel to the station until further notice, as disruption is expected until at least the end of Friday (19 December).
Network Rail engineers and Thames Water staff are on site working to resolve the issue.
National Rail said: "To help with your journey your ticket can be used at no extra cost on Great Northern services between Moorgate and Hertford North, which is approximately a 20 minute distance from Hertford East.
"Your journey may involve travelling on an accessible replacement bus. Very limited rail replacement buses will also be in service."
"Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
"Specific train service alterations and live departure boards are available to help plan your journey."
