Bucks NHS Trust wins 'Making A Difference Award'
The Stoke Mandeville nurse was nominated her her colleagues for the award.
The Buckinghamshire nurse was nominated by her colleagues for the award.
Molly Chibvuri, is the Interim Matron at Stoke Mandeville's Intensive Care Unit, and has been recognised for her work after being nominated by her colleagues.
60,000 members of the Royal College of Nursing from across the region were invited to nominate colleagues who had made a real difference in the delivery of healthcare.
The award forms part of the region's celebration of Black History Month in October.
Molly says her current role isn't something she thought she would be doing:
"This is not the role I envisioned when I went into nursing, as recently as a few months ago I said I would not do the Matron's job within ICU.
"My passion is looking after critically ill patients, it is one of the most rewarding things you can do. But I am also equally passionate about supporting the people who look after those patients
"Initially I didn't think this role would allow me the scope to do that, but now I realise just how much I am able to make a difference to developing those same people and supporting them so they can provide the best care possible."
Molly says that it is really important to look after the staff, because of how draining it can be physically but also mentally and emotionally for them.
At first though, she ignored the email congratulating her:
"To be quite honest, I did not know I was nominated and I found out when I received an email from them.
"I wasn't expecting it, so I thought it was junk or something. They then wrote to me to ask whether I was accepting the award.
"So I thought I better pay attention to that email and then I found out my colleagues had nominated me.
"I was thrilled but equally humbled, because I thought I was just going to work to do my jobs like most other nurses do. But clearly to my colleagues I had gone above and beyond my duties."
