Bucks gyms open for free for one day only
Amersham, Buckingham & Aylesbury's leisure centres are getting involved.
Some gyms in Buckinghamshire are opening for free today, to make exercise accessible to all.
Everyone Active sites in Aylesbury, Amersham and Buckingham are taking part in National Fitness Day.
The incentive is designed to make exercise accessible for all members of the community regardless of their age, background or ability.
Chris Williams, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said:
"We're thoroughly looking forward to welcoming people of all fitness levels down to our facilities on National Fitness Day.
"The pandemic has undoubtedly had an impact on many people in the local community, so we want to ensure that for one day, everyone has access to our facilities to try them out for free.
"Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe is our number one priority and we have introduced a number of new safety measures to ensure that everyone can visit us without having to worry, and work out in a safe and welcoming environment."
Those who are interested in visiting any of the above centres on 23 September will need to register online and complete an online induction before attending.
Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council's Cabinet Member for Sports and Leisure, added:
"With the return to work, it's important that we keep up the new fitness regimes we entered under lockdown and make the time to ensure we stay as physically active as possible. If you're not already a member, I'd encourage you to register for free gym access on Wednesday 23 September at our leisure centres in Amersham, Aylesbury and Buckingham."
