Hundreds of Buckinghamshire school childrens' wishes form part of Waddesdon Manors Christmas display
Each star features the wish of a school child
Waddesdon Manor staff have written a child's wish on a star for the display along Miss Alice's Drive, their woodland walk.
For their Christmas display Waddesdon Manor held video calls with teachers from local schools asking for students wishes.
Some wished for 'Sonic the Hedgehog' or 'a red bike', hundreds unexpectedly revealed the huge impact the pandemic has had on children, with wishes for 'coronavirus to go away' and 'to see my family again' appearing repeatedly.
Sarah Dewberry, Head of Learning and Engagement at Waddesdon, says the project showed how much children have been impacted:
"School children have suffered a lot, along with everyone else, but the interruption into their education alone has been significant.
"I think we often think that children can just adapt, but the feedback we got from teachers was there was a lot more going on with the children.
"Some of the wordings used was quite telling as well.
"One that doesn't relate to the pandemic was 'I wish I could give my grandad his memories back' which was heartbreaking and a surprising way to phrase it.
"It was just really interesting to see the range of wishes."
The wishes are on metal stars, which Sarah says makes them sounds like bells when the wind blows.
Along with this display there are lanterns and light boxes up.
This display is** available until the end of January** and is outdoors.
