E-tickets and booking for specific buses are two changes coming to home-to-school transport in Bucks.

The Council's making it easier for parents to apply and alternative options for SEND families.

Some improvements start this September, with applications opening next month.

This all began in 2020

An 80-point plan was put together to change up the school transport service and the latest update shows 30 of these have been achieved already.

The Council have re-tendered all 1,400 contracts for this service and are bringing in new software for customers and staff.

For SEND families, new alternatives are being brought in, so they have the option for an allocated budget to spend on taxis or other transport instead of using buses.

In April, when applications open, there will be a simplified website for parents to book places for this coming September.

The Council is trying to improve management of services and this will mean some timetable/service changes.

Spare seats will still be up-for-grabs, with priority given to siblings, for example, to avoid parents having to drive other children to the same destination. This will again be available from April.

This whole programme is due to be completed by 2023.
