A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 months in prison following an investigation into drug supply in Aylesbury by the Thames Valley Police Buckinghamshire Proactive Team.
Saad Hashmi, of West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
He was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday, 8 May.
Hashmi was arrested on 3 February in Wickham Close after officers witnessed him supplying cannabis to another individual.
During the investigation, police identified an address that Hashmi had been using for drug activity — a practice known as "cuckooing," where dealers exploit vulnerable individuals and take over their homes.
A search of the property led to the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis, cannabis resin, cash, and drug paraphernalia. He was formally charged the following day.
Investigating officer PC Gary Ratcliffe said: “We are committed to tackling drug supply in our communities.
"Hashmi was cuckooing at an address where he held a large quantity of Class B drugs. Targeting vulnerable people in this way to sell drugs is not acceptable, and I’m pleased that he pleaded guilty and has been sentenced accordingly.
"The public are key to providing intelligence that we can develop into proactive investigations. I would urge anyone with information about drug dealing to contact Thames Valley Police, either online or by calling 101. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
