Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust urge locals to stick to lockdown restrictions
Coronavirus cases in the county have dropped over recent weeks
Buckinghamshire residents are being urged to continue following coronavirus restrictions.
In recent weeks areas of Buckinghamshire have seen a drop in the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000.
Aylesbury Vale has seen the rate of cases per 100k population fall from 251 to February 1st, to 189.5 to February 8th.
This fall does not mean things are back to normal, Dan Gibbs from Bucks Healthcare says they are still struggling:
"It is great to see the numbers going down because it means the lockdown is having an effect but the infection numbers are still really high.
"While the vaccine program is rolling out well across the nation there is still a risk, especially to vulnerable people.
"Until the government start considering releasing some of the restrictions it is important we continue to follow them and do our best to protect our communities."
Buckinghamshire Council declared a Major Incident on December 30th, over fears the health services would be unable to sustain a further increase in cases.
Dan says although this has helped increase support for health workers, they continue to face a difficult work situation:
"Its important to note the NHS has been in a National Major Incident since before Christmas, and we continue to do so but we are still in the depths of the major incident.
"We cannot underestimate how hard it has been for our staff
"Not only because of the difficult situation in the hospital, but they also have lives outside of the hospital and are subject to the same restrictions and guidance as the rest of us.
"Its been really tough for them in work and outside and they have tirelessly worked to keep people safe and care for them in the best possible way.
"We also cannot underestimate the time they will need to get rest and process what has happened in the future."
