Buckinghamshire County Museum reopened on Wednesday with two new exhibitions.

After opening earlier this week Bucks County Museum, in Aylesbury, will close a day early for 2020 after the area moves into tier 3 on Saturday.

The Bucks Art Society 100th Anniversary Exhibition is one of two new exhibitions that opened on Wednesday.

This includes paintings, prints, sculpture and more by over 30 artists from across the county.

This work is for sale and a proportion of the sale price will benefit the museum.

Martin from BCM says it is disappointing to close, even a day early:

"We all have to follow the restrictions set by the government. All we can say is that as soon as we are allowed to reopen we will.

"We have an enhanced set of cleaning, a risk assessment in place, we have one way systems and the museum is as safe as it can possibly be."

The other new exhibition at BCM is from artist Tony Hart who will feature in childhood memories.

He appeared regularly on television in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Take Hart, Vision On and Hartbeat are just a few programmes he appeared in, alongside Morph in many.

Martin from BCM says they are able to remain open today and tomorrow:

"The issue is sometimes that people might go to bigger centres but we have so much here for people.

"The issue is if people don't support their local institutions they are in danger of closing."
