Buckinghamshire Council is reviewing the budget for schools today.

According to a report shared ahead of today's Buckinghamshire Council meeting, the Schools Budget for the county will see a £7.342 million increase.

Part of this increase is due to the expected rise in pupil numbers for the area.

According to figures from the council they expect an additional 1,110 reception pupils and 990 year 7 aged pupils.

This affects the budget because part of school funding is allocated per pupil.

For the 2021-2022 the per pupil funding allocation is £38.84.

The report also looks at the High Needs Block, which covers areas like Special Schools and support in mainstream schools.

Buckinghamshire Council predicts that high needs outgoings for 2020-21 could be exceeded by up to £5million this year.

They say that work in being done to review the forecast and pupil data for post-16 students being supported in college placements before this can be finalised.

For Early Years the hourly rate of funding per child has gone up for both age groups covered.

For vulnerable 2 year olds it has increased by 8p per hour and for 3 and 4 year olds it is now 6p more.

Local authorities will continue to be required to pass on at least 95% of their three and four year old funding from the Government to early years providers.
