Bedfordshire family raising money to help their son beat cancer

Ollie was diagnosed with a high-risk neuroblastoma in 2019

After becoming unwell and several days of testing and scans Ollie was diagnosed with a stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma on January 9th 2019.

Ollie had a tumour in his abdomen around one of his kidneys and another tumour growing behind his right eye, which was pushing on his eyeball.

The cancer had also spread to his bone marrow.

Ollie mum Lucy said:

It's every parents worst nightmare and we're living it. I still sometimes can't believe we're having to live this journey"

Since then Ollie has undergone numerous treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell harvest, blood transfusions and so much more.

In April 2020 his scans showed that there was no evidence of disease.

Then came the devastating news in July last year that Ollie had relapsed.

Lucy said it was worse than when he was first diagnosed:

"Where the tumour was growing, it was growing so rapidly they said he wasn't going to survive another 10 days. So we had gone to a hospice for end of life care, but by some miracle the chemo worked, the tumour was shrinking and the next thing we know he was in remission again"

Thanks to money already raised, Ollie will shortly start to a treatment in New York, which will hopefully prevent a further relapse.

Ollie will then have cycles of second treatment with the hope he will then be eligible to enrol on the Bivalent Vaccine clinical trial in New York later this year which aims to prevent the cancer from coming back and is showing promising results in patients who have suffered a relapse.

Over £200,000 has already been raised but another £400,000 is required.
