Baby fighting for life after M1 collision
Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious crash on the M1 left a baby with life-threatening injuries
A baby is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision on the M1 on Friday (14 February).
Emergency services were called at around 2.15pm to the northbound exit slip road at junction 11, where a black Audi, a white Iveco van, and a white Nissan van had been involved in a crash.
Three people—a man in his 40s, a woman in her 20s, and a baby—were taken to hospital. The woman suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital along with the baby.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is in police custody for questioning. Another man, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Garry Webb from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a very serious incident, and we urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We especially want to hear from anyone who may have seen these vehicles before the collision or has dashcam footage that could assist our investigation."
Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to report online at beds.police.uk/ro/report or call 101, quoting Operation Athletico.
