Aylesbury Vale's Superintendent warns about rise in rural break-ins
The last two weeks of January saw a rise of this rural crime
Rural break-ins in Aylesbury Vale rose in the last two weeks of January.
Mike Loebenberg, Aylesbury Vale Superintendent, says that in the last two weeks of January especially there has been a rise in rural break-ins to sheds and garages.
Plant machinery, 4x4s and tools are among items being reported as stolen after these break-ins.
Mike Loebenberg says Thames Valley Police are working with residents to combat the issue:
We have had additional neighbourhood officers on patrol across the area as well as support from Thames Valley Police's joint policing unit.
"Our neighbourhood patrols will continue and our PCO's have conducted crime prevention visits as well as following up on every crime of course.
"We have had really strong support from the community in ensuring an enhanced awareness and we are gratefuly for the work that is being done to prevent crime and report them as they happen.
"Reporting crime is really important it gives us the best opportunity to employ our officers to prevent further offences as well as investigate what has happened."
A rise in rural crime is not unusual at this time of year, longer nights and darker days can be used by criminals, as well as quieter streets.
Mike has urged people to look out for and report any suspicious activity that they see, as well as look at steps individuals can take to protect their belongings from theft.
