Aylesbury residents are being asked to check the ID of unexpected tradespeople.

Thames Valley Police say they have received reports from locals of a man in a hi-viz jacket visiting multiple address in the Aylesbury area.

The man claims to be there for a meter reading, which would require he enters the person's home.

According to Thames Valley Police the man has no ID on him and no meter reading equipment.

They are asking people to ensure they check for identification for anyone who arrives at their property to do work that they are no expecting, and to now let them in without this.

Any suspicious incidents can be reported to 101.
