Aylesbury will be trying to recover from flooding today.

Some roads are still closed and homes are dealing with the aftermath of drains backing-up, after torrential rain caused severe flooding across the Vale.

Bin collections have been cancelled today.

School closure

Pebble Brook School has had to close, after drains backed up.

They are hoping to re-open on Tuesday.

Road closures

Several roads had to be closed because of flooding:

  • Broughton Lane, Aylesbury
  • Penn Road, Aylesbury
  • Bishopstone, Bishopstone.
  • Haddenham Road, Bishopstone (near the garden centre closed only).
  • Winslow Road, Granborough
  • B488 Leighton Road Grove.
  • Lower Road, Stoke Mandeville
  • Windsor Road, Woburn Green

Oxford Road in Aylesbury was closed for some time as well.

Bucks Council suggested some of these may still be in place today.

Cars stuck in flood water

Bucks Fire are dealing with more incidents this morning:

Homes affected by flooding

Sandbags had to be delivered to some parts of the town, whilst Bucks Fire & Rescue had to help people who had got stuck in the flood water in their cars.

Aylesbury's MP thanked services for their hard work.

But some homes were without defences:

Thames Water said they were working to fix issues, but asked customers to do the following:

  • If a rainwater drain on your property is blocked or overflowing, call a plumber
  • If a rainwater drain in your local area is blocked or overflowing, please call your local council.
  • If a local river has burst its banks and is affecting you, call the Environmental Agency on 0800 807 060.
  • If a rainwater drain is overflowing with sewage, call Thames Water straight away on 0800 316 9800.

We'll bring you updates as we get them.
