A pub in Aylesbury town centre has introduced a £10 booking deposit after several no-shows last Saturday.

The Harrow says 4 tables of 4-6 guests did not show up, despite reserving a table, with each being held for half an hour to allow for late comers.

Carmen Amoss is one of the pubs owners:

"The thing is, at the moment with the curfew you're limited on time and because of social distancing you're limited on space.

"So we can only fit so many people into the premises, including the outside. When the weather is terrible like it was that restricts it even more."

Following these no-shows they have introduced the deposit for people when booking, which is returned on arrival.

Carmen says it was a last resort as most customers have been great since they reopened:

"The support we have had, other that those tables not turning up, has been brilliant.

"Its just very disappointing when you're trying to work very hard with the restrictions and timescales you've got, that people don't have any thought for you to ring and cancel.

"We have had quite a few bookings since we put the deposit in and they haven't minded at all,."
