In a previous inspection in 2019 the service was rated Good.

We contacted Prime Care for a statement:

"Naturally, we were all very disappointed to receive such a negative report, especially since our carers and staff have worked so hard in the most challenging of circumstances over the last year and a half.

"There are however, mitigating factors which I personally feel have not been fully taken into account. These include 2 official notifications sent to the CQC in early 2020 informing them that the office would be closed in line with governmental guidelines therefore administrative functions would be compromised. These notifications were seemingly ignored. The office only reopened 2 months ago.

"Furthermore, we were asked by the NHS to help clear local hospital beds at the height of the pandemic so people well enough to return home could do so with our support. At one point, this equated to an additional 500 weekly care hours being commissioned.

"In many instances, many of these service users were still COVID positive and our fantastic care staff did such an amazing job putting themselves at risk. Obviously, our efforts to help the hospitals finally took it’s toll on our service and resulted in some of the shortfalls outlined in the report.

"We do recognise that improvements need to be made and are fully committed to doing so. We have already made significant progress in working towards fully rectifying matters and are confident that this will be achieved within the given timescales. Our previous CQC inspections for this location in the last 9 years have all been rated as GOOD."
