Aylesbury Vale officers were among those recognised.

Yesterday's High Sheriff's Awards saw Thames Valley Officers across Buckinghamshire recognised for their work.

The Priority and Neighbourhood teams from Aylesbury Vale were recognised for their work tackling anti-social behaviour in Buckingham.

Incidents progressively became more serious, resulting in assault and robberies with knives being carried or used in offences.

A number of arrests were made and the Priority Crime team conducted numerous investigative enquiries and carried out multiple in-depth interviews over two days.

Meanwhile the Neighbourhood team began targeted patrols to reduce the risk of further offences.

Detective Inspector Craig Burchall is in charge of the Priority Crime team:

"Whatever the police do it has to be proportionate and necessary compared to the risk presented. We would always seek to educate rather than enforce.

"But there are incidents where the risk is too high, like it was here. So we have to take positive action against a small number of individuals, which is what this was, and seek enforcement.

"We continue to do what we try to do which is protect the community and it is really nice to be recognised for that.

"The team do not expect recognition but in this instance they went above and beyond. It was a very positive response to a what could have been a very serious situation with violence."

The Neighbourhood Team was also awarded for their partnership work in protecting a large number of vulnerable individuals across Aylesbury Vale.

Over the last year, 42 closure orders, 46 domestic violence protection orders and 2 civil injunctions have been obtained and put in place.

The team's work to put the victim first and protect them from abusers and drug dealers when they cannot protect themselves is what gain them this award.

Further awards were given to officers in Wycombe, Chiltern and South Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

With a special Young Hero Award being presented to 12-year-old Louis from Milton Keynes for using his exercise time during lockdown to litter pick in his area.
