A new secondary school with places for more than one thousand students could be on its way to Aylesbury.

Earmarked for the Kingsbrook development, the school will also have a sixth form and 32 spaces for special educational needs students.

Around 900 pupils will be aged 11-15, however, and it is hoped the school will be open by September 2022.

When the school does open its doors, an initial intake of 180 students is planned before building up to its full capacity.

Buckinghamshire Council is now looking for an academy Trust to run the school and has started welcoming proposals.

However, it will be the Department for Education and a schools commissioner which makes the final decision on the successful bidder.

The preferred candidate will be chosen by March 2021.

The new school plans come as Aylesbury gets set to welcome 16,000 new homes by 2033.
