Aylesbury man attacked victim with 'claw hammer'
He carried out a 'sustained & unprovoked' attack on a man in Oxfordshire.
A man from Aylesbury who attacked another with a claw hammer has been jailed.
On 11 May 2020, David Rowe went to a home in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, and attacked a 31-year-old man with a claw hammer.
The 34-year-old from Eeles Close, has now been jailed for eight years.
Rowe pleaded guilty at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday (17/9) to:
- attempted grievous bodily harm (S18)
- possession of an offensive weapon
- breach of a community behaviour order
- taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent
- driving a motor vehicle with no insurance
- driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance.
The victim, a man aged 31, received bruising to his body and arms.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Stephanie Barras-Thompson, of CID based at Abingdon police station, said:
“Firstly my thoughts are with the victim of this case who could have been seriously hurt.
“Rowe carried out a sustained and unprovoked attack on his victim with a claw hammer.
“It is very fortunate that the victim did not sustain serious, lasting injuries as this could have had a very different outcome.
“This is unacceptable behaviour and I am glad that Rowe is now going to be spending a significant time behind bars and a further five years on licence for this crime.”
