A boxing coach in Aylesbury says the sport is great for men's mental health and can be used as a springboard for people in our region to overcome their problems.

It follows Tyson Fury's announcement that he's set to release a rendition of 'Sweet Caroline' - which he's been known to sing after fights - to raise money for charity, Talk Club.

Jason Goody's a coach at Aylesbury boxing club and says:

"Boxing gives people a focus, it gives them self-discipline, it gives them a relief so if you're having a bad day and something has been on your mind all day, when you get to boxing you don't think of anything else"

Boxing "helped me get my life together"

Jason Goody shares how boxing helped him deal with anxiety, he says "I was struggling with some issues and boxing gave me a lifeline. It helped me get my life together and sort myself out, it's given me a new lease for life"

Jason Goody tells us boxing is particularly helpful for men because "a lot of men don't talk...they don't share their problems so as a coach you sort of become a father figure to them."

Goody tells us he has had students who were "so timid and wouldn't speak to anyone and boxing has brought them out of their shell and given them confidence. He tells us he has had students with "anxiety and depression, and boxing has helped them.

With the cost-of-living crisis affecting how people spend their money, Jason Goody tells us their boxing club have always kept their prices low.

Jason Goody tells us "None of us coaches are paid, we are all volunteers. We just take enough money to keep the club ticking over. The fees are pretty reasonable, and we haven't put the fees up in a long time either".
