Hairspray will be the first show to light up Aylesbury's Waterside Theatre for months, when it re-opens in September.

The venue's announced a re-opening date of 5th September, with shows starting the next day.

Their programme of events is packed with electrifying musicals, comedy aplenty, captivating children shows, live music and of course, a pantomime not-be-missed, as all are invited to the ball this Christmas to see their sparkling production of Cinderella (Fri 3 Dec 2021 - Sun 2 Jan 2022).

Feel-good phenomenon Hairspray (Mon 6 - Sat 11 Sep) kicks off the season in style and is in good company with Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 The Musical (Tue 28 Sep - Sat 2 Oct) starring Louise Redknapp.

Young theatre fans are in for a treat when entertainment collides with history in Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain (Wed 3 - Sat 6 Nov), before a timeless tale is brought to life live on stage and direct from London (or should we say, Narnia,) with The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe (Tue 16 - Sat 20 Nov). With Justin Live (Sat 25 Sep) throwing lots of dancing and slapstick fun in to the mix, and Santa's Elves and The Shoemaker (Fri 17 - Thu 23 Dec) spreading festive cheer later in the year, the next term looks set to be one to remember for the school kids (and big kids!)

In need of a laugh? Back due to demand is multi award-winning smash hit comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong (Mon 22 - Sat 27 Nov), and more giggles come courtesy of Rob Brydon (Sat 16 Oct), Omid Djalili (Tue 19 Oct), Alan Carr (Sun 24 Oct) and Al Murray (Mon 25 Oct).

M is for music - and lots of it as the Waterside welcomes Scouting for Girls (Thu 14 Oct), Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (Sun 5 Sep), Fisherman's Friends (Fri 17 Sep) and OMD (Fri 17 Sep) courtesy of Friars Aylesbury. Familiar faces take to the stage too with Grayson Perry: A Show for Normal People (Tue 9 Nov), Sunday Times no.1 bestseller Adam Kay with his This Is Going To Hurt tour (Tue 12 Oct) sharing entries from his diaries as a junior doctor, and the UK's funniest red head, La Voix (Thu 21 Oct) back with her trademark comedy, cabaret and mesmerising impressions.

The line-up doesn't stop there. Even 2022 is filling up fast with multi award-winning Mischief Theatre's Groan Ups (Mon 24 - Sat 29 Jan), dance with Anton & Erin's Showtime (Fri 11 Feb), Martin Kemp with an unmissable Back to the 80s DJ Set (Sat 5 Feb) and the global phenomenon, We Will Rock You The Musical by Queen and Ben Elton (Mon 2 -Sat 7 May).
