Autism Hertfordshire continue to breakdown barriers for autistic people
They support autistic adults and their carers
Autism Hertfordshire want help to support autistic adults across the county.
This week marks World Autism Acceptance Week, (27th March - 2nd April) with events taking place across the world raising money to help deliver plans to transform society into one that truly works for autistic people.
A number of strategy events are taking place across Hertfordshire the next couple of months.
The events are for autistic people, their families and carers and professionals to come together and work on priorities for the new autism strategy.
Areas to be discussed will include access to services and what support is needed moving forward.
Autism Hertfordshire support autistic adults to lead empowered, fulfilled and rewarding lives in Hertfordshire.
Elizabeth Cook is from the organisation said people now have more of an understanding of the condition:
"I think seeing it more in the public eye has definitely helped, but also, I think people are finding they have been mis-diagnosed previously, especially in women. Statistically they are diagnosed later in life just because of masking and actually having access to be diagnosed is very important as well."
You can find out more about the support available in Hertfordshire here.
Services are also available in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
