Train drivers are walking out in a dispute over pay, with no services running on the lines of some 12 rail operators today, including Chiltern Railways.

The action follows news that Aslef members have voted overwhelmingly to continue taking industrial action for the next six months.

Media Relations Manager at Chiltern Railways, Matt Turner, said: "Most Chiltern Railways stations will be closed unless they are shared with another operator who is running trains on that day."

This is the third day of industrial action this month, with an overtime ban for the remainder of the strike action running until December 9th.

Rail services will operating a reduced service, with Chiltern Railways making the executive decision to reduce its timetable over the next week in an effort to offer certainty of trains due to run.

Mr Turner said: "An overtime ban will mean a reduced service across most of the network, now this is going to be varied by route and station."

"Different train operators are affected in different ways across this period."

Meanwhile, Aslef general secretary Mick Whelan said: "We are in this for the long haul. Our members have not had a pay rise for nearly five years."

"Train drivers are fed up and frustrated that their employers failed to negotiate in good faith.

"These are key workers who kept the country moving throughout the pandemic. They are simply asking for a fair and decent deal."

"It seems very much likely industrial action will be going ahead into next week, which is unfortunate."

Rail operators are advising people to check their journeys ahead of time on the website of each rail operator whose trains they are due to travel on.
