Arrests made as officers tackle Welwyn Hatfield drugs supply
Officers from TVP's 'Operation Scorpion' teams led the investigations
Arrests have been made in Welwyn Hatfield as officers continue to tackle the local drugs supply.
On Tuesday (11 July), officers from Operation Scorpion and the Safer Neighbourhood Team stopped a vehicle in Haynes Close, Welwyn Garden City. The occupant, a 33 year old man from Luton, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of class A and B drugs with intent to supply.
Officers seized cash, mobile phones, 28 wraps of suspected crack cocaine (pictured) and heroin.
On Wednesday (12 July), both teams were out on patrol again – supported by a Special Constable – when they stopped a vehicle in Comet Way, Hatfield. The driver, a 33 year old woman from Welwyn Garden City, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, being in possession of a class A drug, theft and going equipped for stealing.
Officers seized suspected cocaine as well as two suspected stolen index plates.
Detective Inspector Bianca Broadbent, from the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, said: “We are determined to rid the streets of Welwyn Hatfield of drugs as we know the misery it can cause to communities.
“I hope these arrests provide reassurance that we are serious about tackling the problem.
“Please never hesitate to report any suspicions you have about drug dealing. The more intelligence we have the better we can build up a picture and take action.”
