Flooding is still being reported across Aylesbury Vale.

Over the weekend heavy rain caused disruption across Aylesbury, with flooding in certain areas.

Yesterday, flood defense equipment was sent out to tackle flooding at the Willows Estate.

Sandbags and pumps were brought to the area to prevent water getting into the homes and to divert it.

Residents, volunteers and representatives from Aylesbury Town Council worked together to prevent major flooding.

One resident said it isn't the first time they've had an issue like this:

"About 6 years ago we had a terrible flood and it got really bad. This time they did leave it a bit late bringing the sandbags and stuff out, it was about 1 pm when they started bringing it.

"You could see the water flowing and I saw it when I went out to the shops around 1 they hadn't arrived yet.

"They were here till about 6 pumping it away and it was worrying thinking about what is going to happen."

The floods have affected bin collections in the area, with Buckinghamshire Council suspending waste collection services**** across Aylesbury Vale today.

They say they're going to be updating locals on services resuming as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, some people have reported the flooding has caused sewage to leak into their gardens and nearby fields.

Thames Water said they were working to fix issues, but asked customers to do the following:

  • If a rainwater drain on your property is blocked or overflowing, call a plumber
  • If a rainwater drain in your local area is blocked or overflowing, please call your local council.
  • If a local river has burst its banks and is affecting you, call the Environmental Agency on 0800 807 060.

If a rainwater drain is overflowing with sewage, call Thames Water straight away on 0800 316 9800.
