Appeal for carers for Bucks' vulnerable this Christmas

Caremark say the demand for at-home care has risen

An urgent appeal has gone out for more carers in Buckinghamshire - needed under Tier 4 restrictions.

Caremark say they want to make sure people can be looked after in their own homes, at a time when they won't be able to see many others at all.

Dr Kris Owden is from Caremark - he told us more people are needing support:

"The hospitals are wanting to discharge patients as safely as they can, quickly.

"So our role really is to support the local hospitals, to make sure people are safe in their own home.

"Although care hasn't changed, I think the demand for care has changed.

"The scale is very dependent, though, on the amount of patients going in an out of hospital, so that's very challenging for us."

Caremark say that our community deserves the best possible care and with new COVID-19 restrictions put in place, they want to support our patients in their own homes, so they remain independent.

They need carers to support existing patients and new ones who are isolated or have recently been discharged from hospital.

This will give hospitals more beds to cater for immediately unwell patients and ensure patients can come home safely.

Caremark say full training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is given, alongside a fully supportive management team.

Dr Owden added:

"We must come together as a community and support those who are vulnerable, one day you may need us, but today we need you.

"We are offering the Arcadia group, food/drink and leisure staff guaranteed interviews to support these industries."
