Ensuring the safety of Bletchley community and businesses is "top priority" as AI summit draws nearer
Thames Valley Police have been patrolling and assisting in the lead up to the first global summit
With just over 24 hours to go until the world's first ever AI summit, which is being held at Bletchley Park in Milton Keynes.
The area's preparing to host leaders from around the globe, but police in Milton Keynes are continuing to patrol and work alongside their partners to ensure Bletchley's as unaffected by the summit as it can be.
Local Policing Area Commander for Milton Keynes, Superintendent Emma Baillie, says that maintaining and ensuring the safety of locals and businesses is their priority still.
"“My top priority is to ensure the safety of the local community and businesses and whilst I fully appreciate that the coming days will see some disruption to day-to-day life in Bletchley, together with our partners, we are ensuring that this is kept to a minimum.
“I know that our neighbourhood teams have already been speaking with residents in recent weeks, listening to their concerns and offering reassurance.
“As is natural, we rely on our community to help us. Bletchley has a strong community, and I would ask anybody who sees anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, to please report this to us."
It's hoped that the measures which are in place in the area won't be impacting the day-to-day policing, whilst still providing an increased policing presence on the ground ahead of the AI summit, which begins tomorrow (Wednesday November 1).
Officers in Bletchley have been sharing their knowledge of the area to help with the increased support this week, working alongside several police resources including Drone Units and the Mounted Section.
Some road closures are in place for the summit, and officers are prepared to "seek to disrupt any planned criminal activity."
