A413 closed as HS2 viaduct slides into place
The Chiltern rail line is also being impacted
The A413 has been closed this morning, as four days of HS2 work gets underway.
The Small Dean Viaduct will be slid into place, across the A road near Wendover, between now and Sunday.
HS2 representatives say it's the "heaviest and longest single-stage viaduct deck slide on the HS2 project so far", weighing 4,500 tonnes, and stretching 345m long.
Chiltern lines between Great Missenden and Aylesbury will also be impacted by the work throughout the weekend, with closure in place for February 1st and 2nd.
The viaduct is one of only two places in the Chilterns where the rail route will be over ground, and is one of five in the project to be built with a "double composite" structure.
Small Dean viaduct was assembled in one piece and will be pushed out across the road and railway line.
