A pigs farm in Amersham welcomes two litters of piglets
Kew Little Pigs Farm in Amersham is welcoming a dozen of piglets.
Between the 46 miniature pigs, 3 goats, ducks and chickens, the new arrivals will fit just in, ready for school term.
The farm does regular visits to schools and other establishments to enable humans to interact with the pigs, and vice versa.
Olivia Mikhail, founder and manager of the Farm, believes these sessions help general health and wellbeing.
She said: "It's good for the mental health, and they are genuinely therapeutic just touching them and cuddling them."
With school the term starting, Ms Mikhail will be introducing the pigs to children around the county, who will then have the opportunity to go and visit the pigs at the farm.
"We do free adoptions to schools so they get a picture of the pig, a certificate of adoption, and that's been really successful in Buckinghamshire", she said.
Kew Little Pigs Farm specialises in miniature pigs, who are bred as pets as opposed to other farms around the county.
Once they are born, the pigs either remain at the farm, or sold to trusted and legitimate adopters.
Ms Mikhail said: "If they are listed for sale they will be sold as pets."
"Buyers will have to do a pig-keeping course, they have to have certain criteria to be able to have pigs and understand Defra's rules and regulations to keeping pigs."
