Over £5,000 has been raised in memory of a man who died saving a young boy in Milton Keynes.

Richard Woodcock lost his life just over a week ago, when he tried to help a little boy in Denmead.

It's thought the boy was being held by another man, who was later tasered and shot dead by police officers.

Richard, who was 38, has been described as an incredible person by his friend Joshua Farrell, who set up the JustGiving page to support his family.

Police and independent investigations are continuing.

Joshua said:

"Those of you who knew Richard, know what an incredible person he was and he showed that right up until his untimely end. Richard was able to make anyone around him chuckle and he made everyone and anyone feel important. He was an amazing Father, Husband, Son, Uncle, Brother and Friend.

"There isn't a moment that will go by that he won't be sorrowfully missed.

"Richard leaves behind a wife and two children. After speaking to his wife and gaining consent to set up this page, all fund will go to his family.

"100% of the money from this page will go to them to help them in anyway they need, whether it be for funeral costs or supporting them through this difficult time."

Over the weekend, Richard's family released this tribute:

"We have always been so proud of Richard and everything that he has achieved in life. We are devastated that Richard has been taken from us in such circumstances but we are also so immensely proud of the sacrifice that he has made to try and save a little boy's life.

"His actions on Saturday morning were the type of man he was and that is how we would like him remembered.

"A lot of people loved Richard, probably more than he ever realised, and he will be a huge loss to all of his friends, family and work colleagues."

His wife has added:

"Richard it has been a blessing to share my life with you, my dearest friend, my biggest love, my soul mate. My kind, generous, funny, clever, cheeky husband.

"Thank you for loving me and being the best father to our children. I'll love you and cherish our time together forever."

Members of Richard Woodcock's family have requested for their privacy to be respected and therefore do not wish to speak to the media at this difficult time.
