A reward of up to £1,000 is being offered by Crimestoppers in exchange for information after a man exposed himself to a child in Hertfordshire.

The incident happened on Sunday 2nd February, around 3.40pm in an alleyway in the Jarden area of Letchworth.

Hertfordshire Police say they have followed up many lines of inquiry, including house to house visits, but despite significant efforts, the identity of the offender still remains unknown.

As part of the investigation, detectives have released the CCTV image of a man they would like to identify who was believed to be in the area around the time of incident. Officers believe he may be able to help with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Katy Northway said: “The man in the footage was thought to have been in the area around the time and may be able to assist with enquiries. Whilst we appreciate the quality of the footage is not the best, we hope that anyone who knows him will be able to recognise the individual and make contact with us.

“At the time he was wearing a dark coloured jacket with a white logo on the left arm. Since the incident happened we have given support to the young victim and her family who are understandably still coming to terms with what happened.”

Annabelle Goodenough, South East Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, said: “No child should ever have to go through such a frightening and uninvited experience. Any piece of information you share could help make a difference and could help keep other members of your community safe.”

If you have any information about who was responsible for this incident, you can report the information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in the Force Communications Room via their online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/11080/25.”
