18km park planned around Aylesbury
The Gardenway is part of the Garden Town project to make Aylesbury a greener place.

Plans to make Aylesbury a greener place continue to take shape, now with plans for a park all around the town.
The 18 kilometre Gardenway will include existing parks and waterways, but hopefully include new spaces as well.
The contract to make this happen has been awarded to Urban Movement.
They will now undertake a scoping exercise to identify the route.
What will the Gardenway look like?
Encircling Aylesbury, the Gardenway will deliver an 18km long orbital park of:
- fully connected green and blue infrastructure
- local parks
- woodlands
- playgrounds
- community gardens
- natural areas
- waterways
- heritage sites
The Gardenway will be 'a distinctive, user-friendly open space' dedicated to providing a fully accessible walking, cycling, and wheeling route connecting with routes into the countryside and back into the town centre via the canal, Gemstone cycle routes, footpaths and, brooks.
This is the first major transformational project of the Aylesbury Garden Town Masterplan to get underway and will truly transform the way people move in and around Aylesbury. The Gardenway received significant support as part of the public consultation on the Masterplan and communities will be involved right from the start to help us design, construct, and look after the park.
Cllr. Steve Bowles, Aylesbury Garden Town’s Board Chairman and Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Town Centre Regeneration said:
