18-year-old gives "three people a second chance" through organ donation, after fatal motor accident in Milton Keynes
Brandon Ponton's dad, Wayne Ponton, says his son made the "bravest of choices" to become an organ donor at a young age, after losing his mum to cancer when he was only nine
The father of a teenager killed in a motorbike crash in Milton Keynes says his son's given "three people a second chance of life" through organ donation.
Brandon Ponton, aged 18, crashed his motorbike on Sunday 28 July while en route to meet friends. He succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday 31 July.
The tribute, released by his family, reads: “In memory of Brandon 2006 – 2024. Late on Wednesday 31st July, Brandon sadly passed away following a collision in Milton Keynes on Sunday 28th July, whilst on his way to meet his friends. He was just 18-years-young, a special, vibrant, intelligent and talented boy taken far too soon."
Brandon, a registered organ donor, made the decision to donate his organs which has allowed three other families to have another chance with their loved ones. The statement continues: “This decision has given three people a second chance of life, from a young man who made the bravest of choices at such a young age."
The family highlights Brandon’s kind and generous nature, noting his experience of loss at a young age. “At only nine-years-old, Brandon lost his mum, Tracey, to cancer and his tragic passing set in motion a legacy that Brandon would have been proud of.”
Describing him as a talented musician, the tribute reflects on his passion for performing and his love for playing the guitar. “Brandon was always full of life, with an innocent maturity that only his family and friends truly understood. A talented musician, Brandon loved to rock out with his friends, having taught himself the guitar. He loved nothing more than performing, sharing his talent, having fun, and being the centre of attention."
The family requests privacy as they prepare to celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind. The tribute concludes, “Brandon’s family and friends ask for their privacy to be respected whilst they send him on his way to be reunited with his mum in a fitting celebration that is worthy of his memory, and the legacy that he has created. Rest in peace Brandon, we love you always and forever, and miss you dearly x.”
