Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy died in a crash in Leighton Buzzard in the early hours of yesterday morning (June 1).

Officers from Bedfordshire Police were called to Leighton Road at around 1:40am, after reports of a motorbike collision.

A 14-year-old and 15-year-old boy were found at the scene, and taken to hospital.

The 14-year-old sadly died later in hospital. Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collisions Unit is investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.

The boys family are being supported by officers, though formal identification is yet to take place.

The 15-year-old boy remains in hospital.

Sergeant Ben Heath, investigating, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the loved ones of both victims. At this stage, it is vital that we establish what led to this fatal collision.

“If anyone saw the incident or has any dash cam footage that could shed some light on the circumstances, we would like to speak to you.”
