We are approaching the first weekend of this year's second England-wide lockdown.

Pubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, non-essential shops and gyms are - once again - required to close their doors for the next month.

The government is attempting to reduce the COVID-19 transmission rate across the country, with parliament voting in favour of the latest restrictions on Wednesday 4 November.

Boris Johnson insists these stricter measures will finish on 2 December, to curtail the expected damage on England's economy.

His cabinet has been criticised by some for extending its furlough scheme until March 2021, a move that will be reviewed in the new year.

The initiative will see up to 80% of wages paid, with a maximum of £2,500 issued per person each month.
